For several weeks, the team at the Parc de l’Isle Briand has been busy repairing and restoring the obstacles of the Mondial du Lion – Crédit Mutuel. Their mission: to give them a second life. They work on the structures, sometimes damaged, redo the finishing touches, and even take care of the foliage details. To achieve this, they use fir branches sourced from the park itself, carefully cut by hand, which become the feathers or fur of certain creatures or obstacles.
On September 6, this preparation work opened up to volunteers, who joined in for a large varnishing and painting session. The goal: to have everything ready before the riders and visitors arrive!
Among the volunteers, some had come from south of Rennes, others from Orléans, while several lived around Le Lion-d’Angers and Angers. Everyone brought their energy and enthusiasm, each with their own motivation. Some are eventing fans, others horse riding lovers in general, while some simply came to give their time for the pleasure of sharing a friendly moment. And for this day, no fashion faux pas: everyone picked their most “sacrificial” outfit, ready to get dirty without regret!
Jean-François Arthuis, former president of the Lion Équestre – Mondial du Lion association, remarked: “After our work, everything shines” while admiring the snail obstacle, now looking brand new! Emma, a volunteer on site, added: “It’s so satisfying.”
We warmly thank all the volunteers for their commitment and generosity. Thanks to the park team and the dedication of our volunteers, the obstacles are regaining their colors, and the Parc de l’Isle Briand is ready to welcome the Mondial du Lion in the best conditions.
