This year, the Mondial du Lion Crédit Mutuel took a new step forward in the management of its food waste. Thanks to a collaboration led with GRDF and several local stakeholders, the 800 kg of biowaste generated during the event were transformed into green gas.
How the event’s biowaste became a resource
A dedicated collection system was set up across the entire site throughout the four days. The food waste deposited in the appropriate bins was transported to the Moulinot facility.
There, it was turned into organic matter before being sent to an agricultural methanisation unit.
This process produces green gas that can be used for everyday needs: heating, hot water, cooking, or BioNGV mobility. Methanisation also generates a natural fertilizer used on local farmland.
A highlight in raising visitor awareness
Throughout the weekend, AREMACS supported visitors with activities focused on sorting and recovering biowaste. These interactions helped remind everyone that each small action contributes to reducing the impact of an event.
The momentum initiated at the Mondial du Lion is part of a broader project led by the municipality. From 2026 onward, Le Lion-d’Angers will run on 100% green gas thanks to the methanisation unit installed in the area. This facility will produce a local and renewable energy source for residents.
An initiative that complements the event’s commitments
The Mondial du Lion Crédit Mutuel continues to take action to reduce its impact: responsible waste management, sustainable mobility, water and energy savings, and protection of natural environments.
The recovery of biowaste strengthens these efforts and relies on a shared approach with Moulinot, AREMACS, and GRDF.
